Overview
Overview
Lines is a local-first product design environment for modeling software as semantic nodes, creating visual Views, and packaging structured context for implementation agents.
Core workflow
Lines follows one core workflow:
Model > View > Package > Ship
In Model Mode, you describe what the product means: actors, tasks, objects, decisions, relationships, states, rules, and intended behavior. In Design Mode, you create visual Views that project that meaning into screens, flows, and interface objects. In Ship Mode, you prepare the structured model and visual context for handoff.
Why Lines is different
Lines is not just an ordinary drawing tool. A normal canvas stores shapes. Lines stores product meaning. A node can represent a workflow step, feature, screen, decision, rule, or component of the system. A View can show how that meaning appears to a user.
Local-first files
Files are local by default. Lines documents save as readable .md files with deterministic machine-readable sections for pages, nodes, relationships, views, bindings, drawings, images, and guides.
Use Lines when you want a product model that is understandable to people and usable by agents.
